Default Getting an XBox 360 on line

Gonna have a Friday splurge & get myself an XBox 360 which I want to play on-line with a few mates.

So I need

XBox 360 (20gb HD)
Extra wireless controller (when playing kids at Mortal Kombat!)
Play & Charge Kit

but for playing on-line I need

XBox Live Gold membership

Is that it for getting on-line or do I need any other kit ? Mentioned on the website is a Wireless bridge kit - do I need one of those ?

I have Broadband at home.

Cheers

R.

You need a router or something to connect your PC and the xbox360 both online at the same time unless you just plug straight into the 360 (PC will be unavailable) and the gold membership. Then your laughing

That is pretty much it, i would try and go with wires for the connection, rather then wireless IMHO

So if at home my Broadband set up is just my PC connected to a Modem (Speedtouch as its Wanadoo/Orange) which is connected to the phone line, to get on-line with an Xbox 360 will need to have the PC connected to the internet & a router between the PC & XBox to get the Xbox on-line ?

Yup. Modem, connected to the WAN port on the router, and the PC and xbox connected to the LAN ports on the router (unless your going wireless which like Micky I dont particually like either) You should be laughing then.

i have an old voyager modem which has both ethernet and usb, its possible to use the USB for the pc and the ethernet for the Xbox.

it worked fine for me, but i couldnt get media to stream from the pc to the xbox for some reason

everything else was fine, although i sold myself to the devil and got the "home hub" back out the box, and found it worked perfectly (except every now and again the NAT settings end up as "strict") reboot the home hub and its fine (POS BT ****! )

Cool, assume that the router is a PC World standard jobbie, or is there a specific one for getting on-line with XBox 360 ? Sorry for stoopic questions!

mmmm not sure - at work. Can check later. What I do know is that its the larger Speedtouch modem - my mum-in-law just signed up for Wanadoo (now Orange) & her Speedtouch modem was much smaller I noticed when I set it up. My modem is about 2 years old now so not very new.

I would suspect if I contact Wanadoo & say my modem is faulty they would replace it for a newer one.....

Just buy a cheap router for £20 (I have an Origo one from eBuyer).

That then holds your internet connection 24/7, and you can connect the PC and 360 to that independantly.

Just connect PC and 360 via cat 5 cables to the router, jobs a good un.
