Default XBOX 360 freezing screen

the screen freezes when it gets to the first screen after switching it on, any ideas on the fault??? I have tried different games and also no game.

If you have the HDD, disconnect and reconnect it.

That's what my 3rd xbox did shortly before it threw up the 3 red lights and I sent it back to MS for repair. The HD trick is worth a try, although it usually throws up a black screen with an error number displayed if that's the problem.

Thats just what mine did a couple of weeks ago before bying altogether.

Probably not what you want to hear, but if its less than a year old you might want to take it back to the shop for a new one.

I got one of those coolers from Ebay and mine (touch wood) seems ok since, might not be that though, might have been an update or sommat.

Careful of those coolers. There have been a few reports of them drawing too much current and burning out the power supply (or the back of the 360).

If you want a cooler, this one is a better option:

Powered by USB rather than direct from the PSU. Provides extra USB ports, some extra outputs and allows you to use a standard VGA/component cable rather than the official 360 cables.
