Broadband max speed and router model?
Hi,
I was talking to a friend in work and they said that your Broadband speed can be hindered depending on the type of router you are using.
I'm currently on a D-Link DSL-504 (3+ years old) and only allows me to see 512kbps.
Thanks

older adsl routers will allow up to 8 meg (7.1 throughput)
newer ones that support adsl2+ will allow in theory 24meg
many things such as speed you are paying for and line quality will determine the speed you are connecting at. Quite possibly you are to far away to recieve anything faster????
not to mention internal wiring in your house etc

Certain router chipsets will work over long distance / noisy lines better than others.
I've got one site that's out in the sticks. A Speedtouch 546 (Broadcom IIRC) won't even sync. The older 516 v4 (Alcatel IIRC) runs perfectly.
