is this update easy to do?? basically i have just come back from china, where i purchased a set of discs with games on, they assured me they would work on my version 1.5 PSP, but im having probs gettin it to work, i have the loader etc, and a umd in the drive. and its tellin me the game cannot be started, as the region code is not correct??
So if i do this update to 3.03 oe - b will it work?? where do i find the details bout doing it, and not makin my psp a house brick

Just got round to installing 3.03 oe last night - what a different - Playstation 1 and other PSP ISO's just load directly from the MS. Saves having to play around with some of the older loaders.

I'm in the same boat as joey above, been using Devhook, but been having problems with the new version. Does 3.03 oe eliminate the need for using loader software ?
Also does installing 3.03 oe mean that the PSP can't be reverted back to 1.5 ?

You can revert back to 1.5. See this guide for all the info: MaxConsole Forums - 3.0X OE Guide.
I was using Devhook as well but 3.03 oe is much slicker. However, there are some games that don't work (see here for list: MaxConsole Forums - 3.02 OE NOUMD Compatibility List.). However, for those that do work then normal ISO's are fine - they don't need modifiying.
Worth the upgrade though as you can play Playstation 1 games on it.
Richard.

Yes as scotsman says its well worth it - so much easyer also you can turn that stupid auto load of the UMD off when the PSP is turned on - the ISO`S load straight away with no messing about with any options - also wallpaper is fully functional
you can go back to 1.5 with the recovery menu but why theres no need!! it still runs all homebrew as normal not much left to say apart from it rocks - currently playing metal gear solid on the PSP
and ive just got my 4gb card (cost me £38.00)

I got a fake 2gb over a year ago, and its always been ok. But I got another recently and it was sooooo sloooow. Luck I suppose. But I would prefer a sandisk rather than sony next time. Less fakes.
As for you, ru', I'm afraid you will have to play games on UMD's for a long time.

Just about to order a 2GB memory card to back some of my PS1 games for use on the PSP.
At the moment I only have a 512mb but have managed to get Crash Bandicoot alongside other homebrew on it. My question is, a 2GB should get at least three maybe 4 PS1 games on it. I have a folder named Game 320 in PSP/GAME and when I go to load Crash Bandicoot the Hotshots2 picture comes up even though Crash will play but if I want to put more than one game on it where do the rest go is it in the same folder, Game320 or do I make a new folder for each game.
