Default Help with Excel Password

This morning I saved an excel file with a password, the excel file is a template file that has got quite a lot of time invested in it. I have tried to open with the password this afternoon and it is not letting me. I think this is probably a case of fat finger syndrome when typing in the original password. i have tried varieties of case sensitive but that has not worked. Any ideas before I go to my boss and own up :-(

TBH - Think your screwed mate

If your using XP, you could try and retrieve a previous version from Yesterday

There are password hacks out there, but I don’t know of any freeware add-ins

(We are talking about the password to open the file in the first place aren’t we?)

Cheers.

If mail fails then I will give you an address to upload it to, I am sure that I have got some web space somewhere. I have got a copy of the spreadsheet file to take home with me. My boss has left for the day so have some time to fix.

Don't you have to enter the password twice to confirm it. So you had the fat finger syndrome TWICE when protecting the file

Try mimicking the password changing the odd letter to replicate your fat fingerness.

If you did the password this morning, it can't be *that* hard to remember.

I used to use a tool called Navigator to remove sheet protection and find passwords.
