The main contenders as said out at the moment are project gotham and test drive.
gotham is good but its not open ended..where as test drive you can drive about, explore a whole island and interact with other drivers online. it really is a good game with lots of cars to choose from and car packs being added via xbox live.
forza 2 is going to be the daddy though. if its anything like forza 1 then i cant wait 75 tracks or more..300 cars.
one to give a miss is need for speed carbon unless its second hand. its very same same. the city is bland and the cars are seriously unrealistic. but if you like an arcade type racer its worth a rent.
there is also import tuner challenge which frankly..is a bit pony!!

NFS most wanted / Carbon - Ok for an arcade racer, but not great
RR6 - Good for a quick blast, but VERY arcade, and gets very samey very quickly
Burnout Revenge - Simply great
MotoGp - Good if you like bikes, but difficult to control (not for casual gamers or for the digitally challenged )
All IMHO of course...

I love PGR online (Professional 30 ) but all online racers are ruined by the dirty tw@ts who cant drive for toffee - thats where Burnout excels - the whole point is being a dirty tw@t!

I got Forza 1 for £9, new.
The graphics are ok, but you get to upgrade stuff, and whip evos on the Fuji hill climbs (in a spec c)
Forza II looks like the bulldogs b*llocks(Scoobynet car club?)
Hope they don't screw it up
I like PGR3 for being able to bat round the ring (said Ashley Cole)

pgr3 gets my vowed mainly for online.. if you can build up a good friends list of peeps that play PGR3 (and can drive, not the normal dirty gits you get) it can be great fun.. best online game I've played so far I reckon, just for the laughs alone

I remember Berk and the show (Trapdoor). I can even remember the theme tune, (Don't you open that trapdoor...coz there's something down there). Happy days
p.s. I'll try and beat the score, but probably won't do it. It's much harder to beat human opponents in the game that it is to beat the computer opponents

Back to racing games I'd say get Burnout, PGR3 and Test Drive second hand, as you should be able to find all 3 fairly cheap now!

TDU is the best at the mo, great being able to just drive wherever you want, PGR3 is good but now feels very boring after TDU, I reckon the cars handle better in TDU, they all feel very different and kind of how you would expect.
Turn off the driving aids which are on by default, I was initially dissapointed until I did this.
Waiting for Forza 2 as well.
I think that racing games are one genre that really benefit from more powerful hardware, TDU being about state of the art at the moment.
