Depends on the software you are running. If you are running stuff that is multi-threaded (i.e. can take advantage of multi-processors) then I'd guess you might see better speed from the dual, but for the majority of stuff I'd expect the single core to be faster.

as you can tell by the speed (P3's) not heavy duty stuff. I'm guessing the extra cache isnt going make a huge difference.
just having a clearout and getting the best out of the crap ive got - far too much littering my room.
Going to make 1 media pc (connect to xbox maybe) out of it all and bin the rest.
ok found some other processors so now a
dual 800/256
dual 500/512
guess i'll make a dual 800
edit: or can you use an external usb drive with xbox in which case i'll scrap the lot
