Dumb question about cartridge sizes.....
I have a laser jet Samsung colour printer (CLP 500) and the black toner cartridge is the size of a video cassette. Just been given an inkjet Epson colour printer (1270) and the black cartridge would fit in a matchbox.
I assume that I just won't get so much life from the Epson cartridge but why is there such a difference in toner/ink physical amount? d

the ink jet has a sponge in side that holds the ink like water, the smaller it is the smaller the printer can be and the more people have to pay on ink. At the most basic level, what the printer does is place small drops of ink onto the paper. Inkjet printers are considered a type of non impact printer, as opposed to dot matrix, since the ink is transfered to the paper by way of nozzles. These nozzles spray the ink directly onto the pape
A laser toner not only contains the toner it has the whole printer bit in it. If you remove the toner from a laser its almost empty in side. Laser Printers employ a laser beam to create an image on a drum. The light of the laser changes the electrical charge in the drum wherever it gets hit. Then, the drum is rolled onto a reservoir of toner, which is picked up by the altered portions of the drum. Consequently, the toner is being transferred to the paper by an amalgamation of heat and pressure, in the same way a photocopier operates.

Nice answer, ok then, how does a wax phaser printer work?, i know how it gets the ink/ wax from the drum to the paper, but not from wax to drum
