Question Hard drive full??

Hi

My PC is telling me my 80gb hard drive is full, I have bought a 250 gb standalone hard drive and transfered all my music and oics etc to it, but my hard drive is still apparently full

I have tried defragging and this has no affect, whats the next step??
There is definitlely not 80 gb of stuff on the hard drive nore like 8gb if anything, whats the score...?

Cheers Paul

If you go to 'My Computer' and select the 'C' Drive what used/free space amounts does it report?

A contiguous file is one that is unbroken.

when you copied the music etc to the external did you move or copy them ? Is possible its all still on there !

Run a disk check on the drive and let it repair anything it finds, then it should let you degrag !

Also check how big disk manager reports youir c drive ! Its possible its not 80gb even though the drive is, and may be spliut into a series of smaller drives ! Do you have D and E drives also ?

I have defo moved and not just copied the music to the external 250 gb hard drive

Explore C drive = 59.6 used in blue

But i have bugger all left on the C drive I have moved almost everything of any size onto the 250 gb drive ..... and as stated before C drive wont defrag....

run error checking on the drive, its under the tools section with defrag ! it may require a reboot to do it on the system drive, but let it run !

From Windows Explorer, do a File->Search... for files bigger than, say, 100MB - and delete as necessary!
