MS Exchange 2003 with OWA (Outlook Web Access) if you only need remote access via web connection.
MS Exchange 2003 with a Blackberry solution, if you need remote access from anywhere (not limited to internet connections)
I would recommend Trend Micro ScanMail for Exchange v7 for virus, spam prevention (including end user quarantines), content filtering, etc for the Exchange server. Consider the Trend Micro RBL+ or NASS (depending on the MTA available) service for spam prevention via spam blacklists.
ScanMail v8 is due out end of Q1 which supports Exchange 2007 (as well as Exchange 2000 & 2003) and offers 64-bit support.
There are other options like spam firewalls if you want it in an appliance, like a Barracuda spam firewall.
Do you need to consider firewalls, routers, web monitoring, web server hosting, etc??
