Default First thoughts on wii then?

Well i bit the bullet, picked one up from a local eBayer yesterday. Saved a bit from fridays prices, but still obviously more than retail.

Had a first play today on all the Wii sports games: What a laugh!! Exactly what i was after for our family xmas. Fantastic fun. The controller works well. I was laughing, jumping around with hands up after KO's on the boxing and you defo work up a sweat. (Bit like dancemat/maracas action)

There's no great graphics, but you don't notice, you're so submerged in the controller and the action.

Bit p!ssed to see no real rally/car games coming out soon and no good ones on the gamecube, so i'll probably get a PS3. But for pure enjoyment this will win hands down.

lOOking forward to getting a copy of Zelda.

Awesome. Love it.

Only downside is that I can't tear my missus or her mum away from it to have a go myself !!

My component lead is winging its way to me and should be here by tomorrow with any luck and things will start looking a whole lot better.

Boxing is quite an energetic game too !!!

I can see how people are throwing their controllers through the screen though, that wrist strap is a must.

I'm going to wait and take the inital reactions with a pinch of salt as I can see the novilty factor wearing off. Hope it doesn't though as the Wii sounds good fun.

Some of the sub-games that you'd get with Wii Sports and Wii Games are a bit shallow and will tire fast, but games like Zelda look set to keep you entertained for a long while.

eh? Surely they're selling on eBay due to the 100% mark-up they can get away with...

edit - 1 minute too slow...

unbelievable the bull they come out with to make theirs look a better sell.
"no timewasters as i had to queue for 8hours for something i didnt want....."
"it cost me 280 so make a bid over 380 and you might get yourself a bargin..."

Had a go on my mates on Saturday while picking up ours, which is an Xmas present for my son. I completely echo the comments of gaz.

This has brought the fun back into gaming, big time! I played the tennis game (whatever that is called). What a laugh.

Equally looking forward to Xmas day and the look on my lad's face as he gets to grips with it. Some great family fun coming our way, methinks.

Yeah, you'll need the extra nunchuck (unless you're gonna give the other boxer the advantage of having one arm tied behind your back! )

( * actually, i don't know if it will work with just the controller...)

Gonna get one myself, so i can beat the crap out me bro on xmas day

I'm with you on that one, Zelda is the only reason i would want one, but jumping around in front of the telly i'm guessing will wear off.

"Wii Play" arrived today with another controller and a disc containing 9 small games, like shooting, billiards and table tennis. Nothing that's going to push the technical boundaries of gaming, but a whole world of fun for a group of people.

It's not that great to be honest, not as good as all the sub-games in Super Monkey Ball.. but if it's not much more expensive than just buying another controller then maybe worth a punt.

Wii Sports + Monkey Ball are where it's at for group games.

Thumbs up

anyone playing Zelda yet? Got about 2hrs into it, as engrossing a game as the previous Zelda outings, controller works well with the aiming and firing.

Some tricky stages though that get very frustrating very quickly

Most played game for us so far is 2 player Wii Sports Tennis - controllers work just perfectly for this - worth buying an extra controller for this alone.

Be interested to see what COD3 is like

Maybe I should RTFM, but is there any technique to Wii Tennis, other than moving your arm swiftly when the ball reaches you ?? Such as placing where the ball goes and how fast you return it ?

David,

Backhand and forehand all happen as real. Slow ball and fast ball are also real (all down to the speed - well more a quick flick - of the controller). I can also place the ball as well fairly accurately. All this can be done whilst I lay down on my sofa...... even this console won't make me exercise!
