Help - Need WII Before XMas... :(
Please help; had a wii ordered from Gameplay (bunch of ***** ) to be delivered tomorrow morning.
Now found out they can't even promise delivery this side of Xmas.
I'm going to be killed by the GF.
Does anyone have any idea where I can source one? I've not got megabucks, so financially sensible answers only if possible...
Thanks very much,
Ru' (deep in the shii t)

Rumours are that Nintendo aren't bringing enough of the machines into the UK before xmas to cover the number of pre-orders already placed, so I wouldn't expect to be able to walk into a shop and buy one any time soon...

Surely your G/F knows all about the demand for the weewee so will understand if you couldn't get hold of one. If she doesn't, does that not tell you all you need to know about your now ex-girlfirend

Yes I think your only option will be ebay, they are silly money at the mo but if demand drops a little in the next couple of weeks you might be lucky. After that just pre-order from wherever you can on the high street and you might get lucky. Toysrus took a reservation from me today without even having to lay out cash!

I had three boxes in my hand today, but didn't buy one in the end. I was really tempted but with the 360 at home and some new games like CoD3, R6 Vegas and F.E.A.R., I will wait for a little longer (after Christmas) to buy a Wii. But then again,... there...is...ZELDA...

I'm really hoping that eBay prices get sensible.
Seriously, if anyone else gets their hands on one and doesn't want it I'll buy it with a fair mark-up to cover your troubles. Willing to collect as far North as Birmingham as a minimum.
Can you smell the desparation?

Sell you mine ..........
but then I would like to keep my *********
Not sure where you would get one now , Argos came up trumps for me, agree with you on Gameplay wouldn't preorder anything off them , they let me down bigtime when Ocarina of Time came out . If I hear of anywhere Ill let you know .

They do operate a first come first served scheme and ship things out in the same order as the orders came in. So if Nintendo didn't deliver enough machines, then they aren't going to be able to satisfy all orders. reading around the net it seems that almost every company out there has been having problems getting hold of stock.
It's Nintendo you should be moaning at.

Why would I moan at Nintendo? My 'contract' is with Gameplay; if they didn't get stock they should've told me at the earliest oppurtunity so I could try something else. Bunch of *****.
Thanks for the replies; currently bidding on eBay...

I expect Gameplay didn't know how much stock they were getting until the day they got the consoles in (I know that's been the case with a lot of distributers - and was the same with the 360 as well).
I still say you should be moaning at Nintendo for not ensuring an adequate supply.
p.s. I just looked at the gameplay messageboards and they are expecting another shipment before xmas, but this point they don't know when it'll be or how many it will contain. So, it might be worth keeping the order open. If you end up with two you can always sell one on fleabay...

I ordered Ocarina of Time (Best ever video game )at least a year before release with Gameplay , launch day arrives but no game , numerous phone calls and still no joy , in-fact some young ****** was shouting at me down the phone on why I should be more patience. At the time I only lived around the corner from Gameplay and they wouldnt even let me pick it up ! Few days after launch I'm in Woolies on an unrelated shopping trip and there it is on the bloody shelves! I told Gameplay where to stick it
Best to avoid dedicated gaming shops for preorder's ,they never have enough supplies and always more customers than stock . Argos came up trumps for me this time and for a lot of other Wii buyer's. apparently they were very good for the 360 launch last year .
Gameplay are crap....

As I said, Gameplay have always been fine for me. I've ordered so much from them I get a permanent 5% discount on everything now Everything I've pre-ordered from them has always arrived on time (usually before), and have always had really good service from them.
Conversely I've had really bad service from woolies and argos, (in fact, don't get me started about argos - almost got to the point of contacting trading standards a while ago about them).
I think if you look hard enough, you can find people who have had a bad experience with almost any company out there. Because one person has had one bad experience doesn't make the company any worse than the others though.

To be honest I've never had problems with them apart from this, but typically this time it's dropped me right in the shiit.
Got outbid on eBay tonight; it went for £330 in the end.
Oh well, I'll keep trying.
