I am networking the 360 through my laptop and use aol broadband to get online. on the xbox live connection test i get to the dns lookup and then it fails. cant seem to figure out what i need to do! I have ICS enabled and also the windows media connect installed aswell.

No Firewall running on the laptop? Failing that, I don't know.

Most ISP have proxies to try and speed up slow connections, as standard NTL doesn't.

Just for your info

depending on the router make it could be, port forwarding!
Problem with DMZ is that the computer becomes open to attack !

To sum up a DMZ... its like an unprotect network that sits between the internet and the internal network ??

That about right?

from the sound of it you are using a modem to connect to the net so...... I would:

1) leave AOL

2) Buy a router

3) connect the laptop and the xbox360 to that

4) open the relevant ports, more on that if you go down that road, do not use DMZ as pimmo's comments above

sorry for short answer but that would give you a much better setup
