Cheers guys. I can grab the files off the Xbox and ftp them upto my PC. So then do I use that device in the first link and push them down to the 360? Do I have to buy a memory card for the 360 to do this or will it push to the HDD?
Also the 2nd link I can't get to work incase that has answers to my questions.

I've transferred backed up 360 saves using the first device I mentioned but haven't tried an old save although I have them all on my PC. I was told it could do it though. I've looked about and can't find any instructions for doing it apart from for the SXATA above.
Can't be too hard ? Can it Will have a mess about with it when I get a mo.

Never managed it with my device, but apparently you can with Datels XSATA . . .
Access to the 360's HDD also means you can transfer your original saves from the first Xbox and load them onto the 360's HDD, if the 360 supports the old game. The process requires Datel's Xbox Action Replay to get the saves out of the old Xbox, but can save an amazing amount of time if you aren't inclined to re-win all your old classics. You can also transfer custom sound-tracks from the original Xbox to the 360 in a similar manner.
