Spyware..!!!
Have been getting a few strange problems with my new laptop (which is running Mcafee AV etc) so I thought I'd run some spyware software (Spyware Doctor). The initial scan reported 381 infections..!
Does this sound right or is this some scam to get me to buy this software..?
I'm about to run the McAffe spyware detector as a comparison, but if this is correct how do they get passed all my AV security..?
All help appreciated..

ahh, just looking at the results of the scan and you're right, they are all cookies..!
I take it if I delete all cookies and rescan then the result should be 0..?

For spyware removal get adaware and spybot - these will catch pretty much everything - I wouldn't trust anything else. Both are free

PC Pro did a group test somewhile ago and neither Adaware or SpyBot S&D did very well, each only finding just over 50% of the spyware on the test PC. Microsoft's free offering found more but Spyware Doctor found the most, tis also the one recommended by the Gadget Show
Spyware Doctor does scanning for free you have to pay for the removal part.
All this is from memory and from a few months back so things may have changed.
