This is on the must-buy list for me - good to see the reviews all coming out really rating this

Gonna be an expensive month - CoD3 on Friday, GoW next week and RS Vegas the Friday after that!

I've pre-ordered this on the backbone of most of the reviews & trailers...

Just a bummer that it comes out on the same day as Tony Hawk, now that will be a dilmema when I get in from work! What to play first :0s

Pre-order for me too.

it's a killer month with COD3,GOW Rainbow vegas. Looks like a good few months for the gamerscore anyway.

Also sounds like a good month for some 'scoobynet' multiplayer games then...

Not sure about this one. I've got it pre-ordered but am thinking I might cancel. Apparently the single player game can be finished in under 10 hours.

Is it just me, or are games getting shorter. I got the new splinter cell game the other day, and had finished it 2 days later...

Epic have claimed 12.5 hours to complete, with plenty of replay value....

I've read a review where they finished it in under 10. Replay value is "do it all again on a harder difficulty level" + the multiplayer stuff.

It's that age old question really 'How long should a game last?' Make it to short and you feel hard done by, to long and you get bored.

Guess it also depends on how you play the game, if you sit there all weekend and do nothing else then sure you'll finish it quickly. However I tend to only play for a few hours in the evening mixing up single player and multiplayer, makes the game last that little bit longer. I'm still playing Halo2 and I completed that in less than 10hours almost 2 years ago...

The worst thing that happened for the single player game was Xbox Live!.

PGR1 was fantastic, you had to work really hard to get the good cars, PGR2 the single player game was rubbish, you got all the decent cars almost straight away just because they thought people would want to race the fastest cars on Live!

I think it's more to do with the quality of the story.

Oblivion took me just over 90 hours to complete, and I didn't get bored once. Perfect Dark Zero had me reaching for the eject button within an hour. I also never bothered finished Halo 2. Just got bored with it very quickly. The story wasn't anywhere near as good as Halo 1.

These days, a lot of games seem to be sacrificing good storylines and gameplay for fancy visuals. The fact that Epic keep describing gears as a "cinematic" experience doesn't fill me with hope.

p.s. Neanderthal, I totally agree with you. I don't actually really play stuff online. I've no desire to spend my life listening to American teenagers (who seem to practically be the only people on xbox live). I think I've only played 2 or 3 online games since I got the console last year. For me, multiplayer online stuff is not a valuable addition to a game.

got an advance copy of this yesterday its from the usa release tho its all good because there is no region lockout on the disc.

All i can say is that i played it solid for 6 hours lol , controls get a bit of getting used to but once you get to grips the game rocks, backdrops look amazing, no slowdown except now and then when it loads in a section while you are still playing it.

The running feature made me feel a bit nausious tho lol.

Story content is nice, the cutscenes actually stream into the game.

This is one of those games that is worth its money , and same goes for COD 3.

my copy of COD3 is on the way form play so I should have it tomorrow.

that gives me enough time to complete NFS carbo's single player 100%

I really hope that gears does what halo 2 on live did for me. I loved playing Halo2 before all the cheaters and if gears is anything like that then it will be ace.

anyone played FEAR ? I have a freebie coming from play-asia thanks to the referal programme

Remember GOW is 3rd person and not like Halo. Only time u get 1st person on GOW is wiv a Rail Gun Sniper Rifle.

F.E.A.R is ok but didnt keep my interest that long, as a freebie its worth it, and its region free also. But i wouldnt pay good money for FEAR.

If u like 1st person COD 3 will not dissapoint.

Won't get home from work until about 10:30pm tonight, so not sure I'll have time to play it today. Very frustrating

I played FEAR on the PC so probably won't bother with the 360 version. It was quite good. Not at all scary, but it had a reasonably enjoyable (although predicatable) story, and the AI etc wasn't bad. It didn't stand out from the crowd for me, but having said that, I did enjoy it...

Sounds like we're on the same wavelength Iain

I've subscribed to Live! cause I used to play PGR3 online when I first got the 360. But to put it into context, I'm adicted to TD:U and have never had a sucessful online race the few times I've tried but thanks to the substancial single player element it's lasting me ages (not helped that just before I achieved Champ status I created a new player instead of continuing, so had to start off again! DOH!!)

Same here. I'm really enjoying TDU, but I've not had a single multiplayer game yet. The one or two times I've tried, I've got been able to find / connect to one. Doesn't bother me though seeing as the rest of the game is so large (and absorbing).

I'm just a bit cheesed that all the americans on my friends list were all on GOW last night - 10 days before I get my dirty mitts on it.

import pffft, comes over much quicker through digital lines too

I think the fact you haven't played online yet is because it's quite obvious you have an 'upgraded' 360 if you do!!
