I know how you feel! nice 17" Intel iMac (early 2006) and it's technically obsolete as the Core 2 Duo iMacs are out now.

If only I could persuade the management that I really need a Mac Pro for testing purposes Methinks I might have to work with a client to find an issue that only occurs on a Mac Pro Quad 3ghz with max RAM

Markus.... can you clear something up for me please?

I've read, somewhere (can't remember where) that Vista won't be compatible fully with the Macbook pro until either late this year, or early next (due to incompatibilities with EFS/BIOS or something with Vista) - sorry about the patchy question, but this has been dragged from the depths of my currently crap memory....

Are these the machines mentioned?

The vista thing does ring a bell. Have a peek at this for a bit of info.

That at least says that you can get Vista installed under bootcamp (I've got Vista RC2 running under Parallels quite happily), but you might have problems with drivers, and I have a feeling fans running at full was also a problem too. I've read another blog that says RC2 will run under bootcamp as well.

The drivers Apple supplies with BC probably aren't the best for Vista, but then Vista isn't shipping yet.

I'm guessing that when Vista ships Apple will update BC to support it.

Anyone offering predictions on how long the MBs will take to follow suit?

Don't want to splash out on a MBP, overkill for my portable needs...

I'm not sure they will as they were closely specced before and I think Apple wanted to divide them more like the iBook and PowerBook.
