High volume office printing:
Which is most cost effective in a office environment mainly doing mono, with the use of low res colour is still needed:
Colour Laser....Or colour inkjet?
This includes intial pruchase, ink costs, imaging drums etc, and print cost per page.
Pros for inkjet:
Cheap to buy
Cheap catridges
Throw-away characteristics if it ever breaks
Instant printing (no waiting for the 1st print - as per Laser)
Cons:
Ink doesn't last as long (especially non-orginal/refils) - affecting running costs
Not as well made (most are suited for domestic/home office)
Pros for Laser:
Large number of prints per toner cartridge
Usually better made
Usually higher ppm
Cons:
Expensive to buy
Expensive toner
Expensive image drums (although both the above may work out cheaper than inkjet in pence per page- it's mind numbing to calculate).
Drums+other components not available for all brands (pushing you towards service contracts - which we don't want).
Drum life on some model reduced by 3 quarters if used for colour prints
Long wait for 1st print (upto 30seconds on some brands)
what do you reckon?
(can't have both - no space )
