Video iPods Shipped With Windows Virus!
Love this statement
"As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it. "
Apple - Support - Small Number of Fifth Generation iPods May Be Carrying Windows Virus
McAfee Stinger has been updated to detect this and can be found here

Interesting. I thought that when iPods shipped they were not pre-formatted, thus when you connect it to a machine you need to run the iPod updater which will format the drive using FAT32 or HFS, depending on the platform being used.
I know that with some of the eariler models you could specifically purchase it for Windows or Mac, the difference being, I think that they were pre-formatted, but I thought Apple had stopped doing that.
I can see why they had go at Windows. If you put the iPod on the Mac it'd be perfectly happy, virus or not. Put it on windows, bam, you're screwed.
I've got a software restore CD from Dell which has a virus in the soundmax software, so this type of thing isn't that uncommon, and it's the manufacturing process that's really at fault.
