Default Diagnostic programs

My system has slowed a lot lately and tends to freeze up when surfing, is there any good programs that will diagnose any problems and help get the performance back

Thanks

Phil

As above, run crap cleaner. But there isn't an "all in one" solution, I'm afraid

Defrag your hard disc. (also check how much free space too as that can limit page file sizes if it's over 95% full)

Uninstall all the uselsss junk (google toobar, yahoo toolbar etc) that hogs your system's memory.

And you probably have some spyware on there.

Worth running:

Spybot S&D (immunize regulary) (free)
Adaware Personal (free)

If that fails to clean try Ewido Anti Spyware demo (demo - uninstall afterwards) (can get stuff the other two don't - and vica versa)

If you use a "free" antivirus software (AVG, PCguard etc.), and still have problems. Worth installing NOD32 antivirus demo and check (uninstall it if you don't inteded to buy it afterwards though).

Theres also the Windows Task Manager to consider here. It's worth having a look at what processes are freezing up the PC. It maybe something tasking the CPU to 100% such as Ad-ware/Spyware. Or you may have run out of RAM space and the Hard Disk is being used to swap programs over.
