Default Intel Core 2 Duo Processors?

Looking to upgrade my PC and there seems a lot of processors about these days.... are the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors the latest ones on the market?

I will be using my PC for the normal things as well as some games, video editing/DVD's etc.

Anyone got one of these and care to comment on their performance?

Cheers

Got the original core duo in my Mac Book - and they do indeed rock!

Unless I was on a very thight budgest, I'd certainly be going Core 2 Duo in any new desktop I built

They are the new Athlon64 - Intel have caught up, overtaken and left AMD for dust.

I like Abit or Asus boards but have no direct experience with anything for Core 2 Duo.

There's a round-up in this week's Micromart though

The dual cores are a great buy and applications are just starting to use there power!

But these quad core processors are pointless yet, it will be ages before anything takes advantage of the processing power available... but good when it does happen!

I dunno, if an App is multi-core capable them having more than 2 shouldn't be a problem. For stuff like Video encoding etc, I think they would be used enough.

And they'll still have a lower temp than a P4!!
