Smile CPU Usage

Just had a new motherboard fitted under warranty, everything seems fine except that during some applications the CPU usage is running at 98%, i can see the application doing this, is there anyway i can reduce this happening ?

P4 2.8Ghz.

It only happens every now & then, the fan i think starts to work harder also, well i think its the fan.

Thanks

With your new motherboard, could you keep everything on your hard drive?

What anti virus software do you use, what anti spyware software do you use & are they both up to date?

Download & run HijackThis: http://tinyurl.com/qc4an

Download & run process Explorer as recommended by ChefDude: http://tinyurl.com/74cdg

Before you run these, make sure that you do a full virus & spyware scan.

Norton? NORTON?

OK, first of all uninstall Norton completely. Make sure it's all gone as sometimes you have to d/l a special program from Symantec to get rid of all the crap. Next, d/l & install a free 30 day trial of Nod32 from here:
http://www.eset.co.uk/download/index.php

Good grief... Norton!

If theres a program thats going to push your CPU past 90% for reason, it will be Noton

BTW spybot is no good on it's own...need Ewido and Adaware too (both free).
