Purchasing a MacBook
ok, by tomorrow I should have the funds for a MacBook. I'm looking at a base model and will probably add 1gb ram and larger hdd myself. (Unless there are some really good bargains on the higher spec models)
Are there any good deals about? I see Macwarehouse have a free 1gb USB pen.....anything better?

Ah, I couldn't wait so I went to Apple Store....sold last 3 that day.
Ended up in.....
PC World *hang head in shame *
Macbook is great though - also doubles as portable heater for winter.
1gb RAM and 120gb HDD on the way too

Maybe I should get another 1GB chip for the iMac? It's on 1.5GB at the moment, and seems more than happy, though no doubt the extra 500MB might be handy for Parallels to use.

gonna boot my MBP up as soon as I get paid next month....
Also looking at a bluetooth keyboard and bt mighty mouse (get a pretty good education discount! )
This will get around the need for touching the hot keyboard!
Also filling the HD at an alarming rate

But I'll be in the market for a Mac Mini soon (just hoping they'll increase spec soon)

Did you buy it at a stores as the stores are seperate within the group and each brand has its own cost centre so would not have access to deals funded by MacWarehouse.

Here is a guide on how to upgrade/replace the HD in the Macbook Pro, as matt said, it's nowhere near as simple as the Macbook (I'd have thought they would try to make the Pro model the same as the Consumer model).
It requires opening up the case of the MacBook Pro, and unless things have changed, that's voided warannty time. So if you want to keep the Warranty intact, you'd probably need to get Apple to upgrade it, rather than a bit of DIY.
