When I close down Outlook express I now get a small window opening saying
To free up disk space Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take a few minutes
With OK or Cancel

This does it EVERY time I close it and quite frankly its p!$$ing me off
I've been all through the settings and cannot find a way to stop this message popping up. Its only started a couple of weeks ago, prior to that it was fine.
I don't keep loads of emails so don't know what the problem is. Free disk space on the laptop is over 40Gb so its not like space is an issue.


Any ideas how to disable it

A rather extreme example, but I disabled it by moving to Mozilla Thunderbird!! - it's a better e-mail client IMO and more felixble.

Didn't want Outlook to change anything, was happy the way things were. Plus I'm a stubborn tw@t and don't like being told what to do!

I have now clicked OK and can't see whats changed

At least its stopped annoying me for now
