Finally got one. Got Fifa World Cup & Recon 3.
My gamertag is E320 CDi.
Is there any pointers anyone can give me as i am new to the XBox live malarky.

Just have a look around the marketplace. Loads of free demos to download - gives you an idea of what the whole thing is about.
If you want proper online gaming, get yourself the "Gold" package Silver only gets you the downloads

As mentioned use the marketplace to check out game demos and videos.
www.majornelson.com lists any new content on the marketplace and major news items along with weekly podcasts of Xbox info.
A cool feature brought in a couple of months ago is the integration with www.xbox.com, sign in using your passport account and on the My Xbox tab you can manage your friends and messages - its where I approved your friends request.
The forums at forums.xbox.com *can* give you some decent info if you can get past the teenagers and their UK/US rivalries.... which I have had no part in apart from to clarify that the Queen mum had died and not the Queen.

Got your FR last night.
Ghost Recon is superb online - especially the Co-op campaigns.
Activision have reduced the price of their games too - Call Of Duty 2 is a must have - first time I played it I kept saying "oh my god! proper smoke!"
PS - get PGR3 and we'll see you on nordschleife soon.
