Default BT Total Broadband..

Any thoughts/comments guys? I am looking at Option 3 which is £22.99 a month for the first 3 months rising to £26.99, you get the hub, hub phone, a pretty good call package, upto 8MB speed and 40GB per month limit.

Hmm I'm with Pipex at the mo but that's ~£30 a month + BT line rental and phone calls. If I've read the BT site correctly does that mean that if I go with Option 3, £22.99 is all I'd have to pay? no extra for line rental etc?

There's a bit more than that as well

That phone allows FREE UK calls to any 01 and 02 number at evenings and weekends (up to an hour then you get charged)

You also get 250 minutes wifi access at any BT hotspot in the UK

There is a download limit of 40Gb a month which I've failed to hit once yet.

Anyone on option 3/4 NOW can get the router for free btw - mine is on the way (the phone costs £50 so sod that)

This looks good but it says on their website that you require BT Line or other non cable line.

Add that to the monthly charge and its more expensive for me.

hmmm. Looked at this, but with Pipex, at the moment, paying £23.99 + £4.99 /month for the phone calls. Never exceeded the phone calls, plus I'm on 2Meg atm.

There's BT on top of this.

Works about roughly OK. But I'm waiting for Pipex to bring down the price of there 8Meg. PlusNet are doing 8Meg of £14.99

However, Pipex so far have been brilliant. Totally reliable. Worth its weight in gold.

Kieran - How did you get hold of the router for free? I got an email from them saying that they "will contact me again soon" but "soon" can sometimes run to "long timeeeeeeee"

Well if you go option 3 now you get the router or 'hub' in their speak and the hub phone.

I think TalkTalk is still a better deal, just wait for it to settle down abit.

Yep there are probably better deals out there to be had but I've never had any problems with mine (well apart from ****e hardware such as the Voyager 2500v) but I do like the look of the new hub

Has anybody got one of these yet and if so are they any good? What's the wireless like?

You ARE entitled to it btw... but they don't tell you this unless you phone up (and whinge)

My angle was to say that I was a long time subscriber and I don't seem to get the benefits of the service beyond the connection and why the hell do the new people get things that the existing customers don't? <breathe>

I was very nice about it, persistent, but nice

I just checked on their web site and it says that I can upgrade if I'm an existing customer...... I wonder what they'll say if I upgrade again (given that I upgraded at the end of May) just so i can get the Hub for free?

You don't need to upgrade - just be an existing customer. Your 'upgrade' is just moving to the new package that you get anyway. This is what I meant about them not telling anyone (in another thread).

Dan, have you got download limits on your Pipex service? I'm on their 2Mb service (no limits) and I'm paying £32.99??!?!
