Reasons for NOT wanting a laptop repaired...
OK, to cut a long story short.
PowerBook got FUBAR'd last week.
Insurance want to repair it.
Apart from the obvious lack of guarantee/warrantee issues with the repair, and the chance that other components may fail due to the repair, what other reasons can I argue tothe assessor to get a settlement more in my favour?
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

well apart from making sure, that you the customer, are happy with their decision I would stress that
1 although you understand their desire to repair the powerbook becuse of the cheaper cost involved, you, the customer (yes the one who has been paying all those premiums for all those years) are not entirely satisfied with their decision
2. most repair estimates are just that..estimates and whilst a quick and dirty estimate can be given over the telephone (wasnt that how you got your quote ) the true full extent of the items involved in bringing the powerbook may be far higher once the powerbook is booked on for a full examination
3. many apple ARC's are loathe to do free estimates, especially if the item wasnt bought from them, because although they get the parts covered under their association with apple and to some degree the labour, doing free estimates are never recoverable and so there may that cost involved.
4. you will get the standard 90 days cover
5. you will end up with a 3 year old machine with a repaired screen at close to the same cost of a full blown repair and the final kick in the teeth of increased premiums and the noted claim on your file for a while.
is that enough to be getting on with
