Default USA laptop - work ok in the UK?

any downside to buying a lappy in the US to use here? is it just a case of getting a UK powerlead (or a convertible plug)

A majority of AC adapters will work from 100 to 250V, so that will be ok.

You'll either need a different lead or use a travel adapter.

The only downsides are warrenty (unless you upgrade to a Worldwide warrenty) and not having a £ sign on the keyboard.

Hello

It should work fine, I have a US laptop. As mentioned above, most laptop power supplies will take almost any voltage/hz you want to throw at them.

You will have a dodgy keyboard layout though ....

No £ sign and a few of the other keys are slightly different - the enter key is usually smaller etc.

All the alpha & numeric keys are the same though.

You could buy a replacement keyboard in UK format or use an external keyboard.

You could also run the os with a UK keyboard layout and remember where certain keys are ("@#£~) think those are just the differing keys?

How about blue peter style, glue some stickers to the keys

To get a £ on a US kb:
- Alt+0163
- Copy & paste it from elsewhere
- Use character map
etc.
