Default Deleted items

I've recently deleted numerous items (vids, pics, docs, etc) but they aren't in the recycle bin - where do they go? can i delete them permantley to free up space?

btw - running XP Pro

Hello

If they are not in the recycle bin they are probably gone. Try seeing the space on your hard drive before deleting something and then afterwards and that will tell you if it has gone or not. There is an option somewhere that says whether things are sent to the recycle bin or just deleted.

If you delete a large amount in one go they do not go to into the recycle bin auto delete is used

Also, some files are too large (or too many files). Check the properties (right click on recycle bin) and you can set what %age of the disk it can use. default is 10% I think so on a 40GB disk, you'll only be able to delete 4GB at a time with it staying in the recycle bin. You can then empty the bin. Also, shift click deletes permanently too IIRC.

Would system restore not bring the files back?
