knackered hard drive

Default knackered hard drive

...it happened. un-recovereable due to damage to laptop hard drive.

anyway over it now. question is i now have a laptop which a friend has put in a working hard drive.........but it has nowt on it! so how do i go about loading an operating system?

I dont have origional xp disks etc (dont ask) so am i shafted?

I have just got a new computer and that came with xp and it has recovery disk things you get with a new comp......can i use those on the blank computer??

any help for the uninitiated would be appreciated!!

You need an O/S CD.

Yes you're shafted without an XP CD if you want to install Windows XP. You will need to buy a copy.

Only if the recovery disk is for that make and model of Laptop will you stand a chance. But you still may need a copy of Windows XP.

You're only chance is to install a completely different and free O/S such as LINUX.
