Question Wireless-basic "What is it ?" question.

If we decide to go "wireless " , what does it mean and what do we need ?

At the moment we use broadband BT over a land line (no cable here) connected to an AppleMac. Am I correct in thinking that a wire-less system does away with the cable connection from modem to computer and replaces it with a 'signal' sender unit (transmitter) and a 'receiver' unit has to be plugged into the computer ? Or has it to be a specially made computer terminal ? ie a new computer?

Thanks for any answers.

Yes the wireless removes the need for a cable between the computer and modem !

To do this you will need a wireless router (like a Netgear DG834, others are available i just dont know the names lol) with a ADSL modem built in, and some sort of Wireless adaptor for the computer, i dont much about Mac's but as i understand it they can be used wirelessly as well, many adaptros are USB so should be useable !

Hope that helps
