Connecting to the Internet through another PC
Hi,
Does anyone know how easy it is to connect to the internet using another PC please?
Basically, I'll have a NTL cable modem connected to my PC. What I want to do is connect a wireless network card to this, and then connect to this PC on a laptop, using a wireless network card on a laptop. So the laptop can access the internet connection that the PC has.
I know people may probably suggest a wireless router instead for this, but that isn't an option as I only want to do this for a week, so dont want to buy a wireless router.
Does anyone know how easy this would be please? Both on XP by the way.
Cheers
Steve

you cant do wireless with a cable modem,, hence the need for a router,,,
just been there this week myself, you could possibly do it via a network card and cable, but you still need a router i believe

The only issue then is that the PC hosting the connection will need to be left switched on, for the other PC to still connect to the internet.
2 x rj-45 network cables
1 x switching hub
Both PC's need network cards.
Connect you're NTL network cable into the switching hub. Then connect both pc's up to the hub via there network cards and the 2x rj-45 cables. Set-up the 2nd PC the same as the first. Then you can both surf without keeping a PC on to do it.
