Default HP DJ970C

Bit of an old beast, but has been a faithful work horse until now.....

Changed the colour ink cart, prints off a HP Deskjet page fine. (8 lines, solid blacks, squares etc.)

It also prints off a nice HP Deskjet C Series, four colour square picture flower thing, all very nice.....

But it will not print anything else. It feeds a sheet of paper in, to the point where it should start printing and nothing. Just stops and the power light starts flashing. If I cancel the job via the printer, the sheet of paper is ejected.

Nothing else has changed regarding software installation, cabling or PCs etc.

Tried changing back to the previous colour cartridge, no difference.

Any ideas, before I launch it out the window?

TIA

Buck

Could be a problem with the communications. I take it the cable is fine? Try disconnecting and re-connecting the cable. I take it's that old, it has to use a Parallel Cable?

Yep have had this Jet directs. Sounds like the box has reset itself, or a print setting has been changed. Can you not Telnet onto the jetdirect to check it's settings?
Or was it a gimmick you had set-up for printing? I currently use one to share my Epsons between 3 PC's and an IBM RS-6000 box. 2 are wireless.
