Default AAArgh, new system resetting each time I try to install a program!

I've just spunked over 2k on a high spec new machine with dual core 64 bit AMD processor, huge ram and hard disks, latest nvidia 7900 GTX sli gfx card and windows pro, mainly to have a good machine for photo and video editing.

It finally got delivered yesterday and I have been gleefully setting up.

All was well, installed the latest Nikon View with no prbs, then I installed my genuine copy of Nikon Capture 4.12 with the plan to upgrade to 4.2 then 4.4 (which I know works fine as I tested the same process on my work machine earlier.)

however, after installation I clicked on the program shortcut, and it *instantly* reset my entire machine.

On restarting windows i got the usual 'recovered from a serious error' message. tried again - same thing!!!

Anyway, I tried nikon view again which runs fine. i then uninstalled nc 4.12, *and* nview, rebooted, downloaded the 30 day test version of the fresh 4.4 installer, run that, and then as soon as the files had unpacked to the temp directory in the installer, my machine reset again!!!!

Tried again on reboot, and once again you click on setup, the files unpack, then boom, reset!

The serious error message is giving error signature:

BCCode : fc BCP1 : AE523924 BCP2 : 6C97C963 BCP3 : AE523898
BCP4 : 00000001 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

pointing at:

C:\DOCUME~1\Ed\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8bfc.dir00\Mini051 006-05.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Ed\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER8bfc.dir00\sysdata .xml

The xml file just seems to be a list of my machine components etc and I cannot access the dump file.

I am now tearing my hair out as this was my main reason for buying the machine.

Anyone know if there are any issues with nc4.4 and the latest 64 bit amd processors or geforce cards??

Ed

PS I have cross posted this to photography.

Default

It's fine, I fixed it. Problem with this specific program and the new DEP stuff in SP2. Have disabled the lot in boot.ini as it wouldn't even work if I just had the program as an allowed exception
