its a ADVENT 5480DVD running ME
had it 6-7yrs ish

last week i notice that the sound on the speakers/laptop stop working

I've re started etc

SOMETIMES the start up jingle plays.

I've inserted the ME disc and tried to check sound components but it does a check and says its working.. all ther test sounds work!

i've looked in SYSTEMS/soundsand that shows no conflict.. all systems working fine.

MSN.. can't get sounds playing on there.. or trying a DVD.. or doing a media player vid clip.

don't get Spam Block sounds, new email arrived sound etc etc.. all since last friday.


earlier today when i started up i got the start up sound.. when on a website that had FLASH with sound.. it worked. then wen i went back to the same site.. NOTHING!!.. no sound!


What should i look at now? any ideas

BTW.. the volume is TURNED ON AND UP!

Dodgy connections on the speakers?

Putting some neons on should solve it

lol... its a laptop.. speakers are built in... near the screen

The speakers are still wired up inside though

Does moving the laptop (carefully!) make the sound come back/disappear while playing something like a audio track?
