Canon Digital Camera connection problem

Canon Digital Camera connection problem
Hi all,
I've recently cleaned up my PC due to a nasty virus. In the process of re-installing several applications I am struggling with my camera software. It's a Canon Ixus 500 which runs with Zoombrowser EX. The problem is the PC does not "see it" once connected so I cannot download pictures via the software. However, when I go through Windows Explorer it picks it up as an external device so I can pull pictures across using this route.
Having re-read the installation trouble shoot guide it points towards the driver and says it should be un-installed and re-installed. Thing is that I cannot see the driver in the 1st place. I thought this would have automatically loaded when I installed the CD.
Any ideas would be welcomed.
thanks
Nick

This what you're after?

They have updated drivers, I've updated my 350D and it works better, so give that a go. Otherwise, I couldn't agree more with getting a card reader. Faster and easier! And you can even still use Zoombrowser if you want.

Thanks for the updated driver. I downloaded this and went through the install process and unfortunately got a message "Installation Failed".
I think I'll just continue with the Windows Explorer route for now. I'll definately be looking into getting a card reader soon.
Cheers
