Freind connected on Wanadoo dial up but cannot access web pages..
Right an odd one.. recently he can connect to wanadoo via dialup but cannot view web pages or software cannot connect to download updates.. cannot pint the isp's server either.. got norton internet security which I totally disabled and is still doing the same however recently I believe he has changed his BT service to this rubbish protect me from cold callers stuff.. it seems that it is logged on to the isp's service but cannot access anything through it...

Sounds like they have changed the DNS servers.
Contact their customer service department to verify the IP addresses.
Also try tracert <IP address> to see how far your 'ping' gets.
That might prove it's a local problem to the PC meaning firewall issues or something.
