Default Remote access

I have a remote access 'token' for a work laptop to allow access from my home boadband connection.

I can get the PC working on the internet fine but as soon as I put the usb 'token' into the laptop, the router crashes and drops connection.

My PC support team are useless with this and say there is an internet connection problem but not sure this is right as its the insertion of the 'token which causes the problems.

Any one any ideas what the problem might be? Does the router (wireless netgear) need to be configured and if so how?

Any help welcome

what happens if you power the machine off, then plug in the token, then power up the machine, does the router then crash?

Is the PC crashing at all when you insert the token?

Thanks for taking the time to reply MarKus.

Tried putting the token it with the laptop off and the lapton on - same result in that it causes the router to drop internet connection (router then needs to be reset before it restablishes connection).

Lapton is fine, this does not freeze/crash or anything

Ok, got any details on the make/model of the token and specific details on the router that you can give.

Obvious I know but it sounds like the router is very upset with the token, it's doing 'something' that the router does not like.

What OS is the laptop running?

ok, I found this. If you've not tries it, might be worth updating the iKey driver software to the latest version, see if that helps at all.
