Battlefiled 2 set up
having installed this and gone to EA it seems there are loads of downloads i need - is that right or can i just get the latest on it mentions? do i need all these patches?
need a nice easy guide to it!

Download the EA Downloader.
You just need the latest patch (1.22 I think we're up to) should be about 350Mb in size.
Bare in mind if you install the Special Forces add on at a later date then you'll need to apply the latest patch again.
General rule of thumb is
Install BF2
Install any add-on (SF or Euro Force - Don't bother with EuroForce though)
Install Latest Patch.

BF2 itself only lets you store favourite servers.
I hope to be on tonight, but my NTL connect is a bit ropey after an upgrade yesterday (roll on tomorrow AM when I can call customer support and hit the roof!

Hmm. Used the incremental 1.21 to 1.22 patch which tells you it has successfully installed 1.21 (which I already had) version showing on the game screen is 1.1.2719-548.0. Really helpful.
EA Downloader just shows me a load of trailers. What a crock.

Toots don't bother with SF until you're sure you like the whole BF2 experience 
I've had major trouble with the patches. Everytime I've tried the incremental patches it ***** it up. Hence I always do a full reinstall and use the new full patch.
