Default i bought a dvd writer

not as easy as expected to burn a feckin dvd film

3 coasters already

used the 1st one with "nero vision express" (nero came bundled with the drive) made all my fancy menus etc etc

burned it and it plays, but the screen is jerky? took hours for the program to do its transcode malarky while the preview screen was doing its stuff, it was also jerky, but i assumed that was because it was doing it faster then normal viewing (mate says he can burn a film in 30 mins??)

second was with vision express again, set a load of **** films away overnight, woke up to find another coaster that will not play.

3rd disc "the drift bible" i used winavi to convert it to dvd format, then used nero to burn the dvd format onto disc, vastly reduced time, disc has all the video_ts stuff on it, but will not play

is there a fool proof idiots version somewhere?
cant work out why the bundled nero software cant just do it properly in the first place

yes, it's a PITA. I just bought a DVD player that plays Divx and just burn movie avi's directly onto a data DVD instead.

I used some products from Cucusoft

Also, what make/model of burner do you have. Never had issues with Pioneer/NEC and Datawrite DVD's, but just bought a cheap LG x16 and it left 4 coasters in it's wake.

Ok what u need to get is DVDDecrypter from this link http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/ this will rip the vob files and remove security. then it will save it into a file. this is free

Then what u need is clone DVD from this link http://www.clonedvd.net/
im sure u can get a full working copy. this will then rip it to disk.

Blink a full working copy as new, any probs PM me

right bin all of that garbage for a kick off
nerovision express is the tool you use to compile dvds from other formats
what is your source file?
if you want to make a dvd from various **** clips etc use vision
if you want to make a dvd from another dvd ie back up a dvd you allready own then use a program called dvdshrink
if you have problems with nerovision i will post a step by step guide for making the most compliant file etc

Can also depend on what type of media your using. Most DVD players will only play DVD-R discs properly. Also have you tried burning the disc at a slower speed. Such as 4x.

Films, get youself DVDShrink, freeware.
Can get more than one on a blank DVD, but not recommended. To us it properly though, you need NERO installed.
Also have a look at DVD XCOPY Express, can help you out with it patched if your interested.

used vision express

the film i downloaded was in 2 parts
menu is all ok, film plays ok, picture is fine, no sound at all

there is no audio_ts folder on the feckin disc

the place where i get my films from normaly has them split into 2 parts and there usually avi`s
sometimes there in 3 parts if there a massive file ie: 3 hour films etc etc

Not necessarily. Now and again I come across some bad media. Where I have to burn at a slower speed (Drive by the way is a Pioneer 109, running on a AMD Athlon 3000+, 1 GB RAM (Corasir XML 2,6,6,2), 300GB Hard Drive running @ 7,200RPM, fully defragged). This could be down to any factor. Also there are different types of dye on DVD media these days. The ones to try are with Ritek dye. This dye is a must if you want to burn DVDs without making coasters. Also coming back to DVD-R. The DVD-R format is the most compatible with standalone DVD players. Especially those older players that most people may have. For example my old 4th Gen player plays DVD+R (Even though it specifies DVD-R playback only), yet a friend of mines 3rd Gen Player will only play a DVD+R and everytime it get near the end of the film breaks up and stops and locks up the player.
