Default MaxDSL Live today

Hello

For those of you who are interested, most of the exchanges in England have been upgraded to MaxDSL today (8mb).

BT's checker has been updated to show a guess at the speed that your line should be able to get (The Samknows one here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php)

Hello

I just regraded, and Zen took a few minutes and the order is 'fulfilled', but it is with BT and will probably take 1-2 weeks for them to, erm, do whatever it is they do to transfer!

4Mbps @ 1.61km from the exchange

Mind you it says that pre- ADSL Max I shouldn't be able to recieve 2Mbps which I currently am via Pipex

Do you know I was thinking about what to download, XBox 360 demos were about the only thing I could come up with. The odd HD movie trailer on Apple.com. If my thinking is right it won't help much with Limewire and the like??

I think when developers start using the STEAM method of selling and distributing games it will be very useful, assuming a decent server setup of course

Nah only if the other parties have adsl2, or there are several people sharing.

Hello

Check the status of your exchange, if it is still Amber then they haven't finished the upgrade yet. Try again later on today and see if it changes.

no, they're just saying that it's available if the client so wishes to upgrade (for a premium!!)

Mine would add another £10 odd (Pipex)

I got an e-mail from AOL saying that as I was a platinum user, I would be the first to be upgraded. That was back in december. Just got one the other day saying it would be the start of april. From 6-8mb for no extra cost.

Oh and I only use it with a router and AOL hasn't disconnected in the last 10 years for me, for anyone that fancies slagging off AOL.

I have BT business at work and its been off 3 times in a year.

Think thats the max theoretical figure, most ISP's quote 768Kbit upload.

Wish NTL would up their upload limit, 10Mb down and only 512Kb up!! need more upload for hosting 360 games

I am with http://www.ukonline.net/broadband/ for 8meg and pay £24.99. They are really helpfull and the speed is great, I use it allot for Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also if you know someone who is with them already, provide them with your friends email address and you both get 1 month free.

If you do not have a friend with it, PM me and I will gladly share mine

Oh, and free connection till 8th April. Just make sure if you switch (whoever you go with) that you use a MAC migration code if possible. It means when the transfer day comes, the connection is switched over quickly, I suffered under 30 minutes of downtime.

Hello

Wanadoo probably isn't available. They are not talking about the ISP, but the LLU of your exchange which is not that many.

Hello

Having placed my order with Zen on Friday evening, my router synced at 8128 this morning -- so active much sooner than I expected.

I'm in the middle of a migration from plusnet to EvolutionDSL ( www.evolutiondsl.net ) ~ should be complete in a week or so.

No capping
No shaping
No limits
Free migration
Monthly contract
Fixed I/P

Couple of quid a month more than Plusnet , but worth it just to not have to cope with their moving target that is a fair usage policy....
