Default Itunes 3.1.1 - ok?

Having read here people having problems with updates for Itunes I have put off for ages the update 3.1.1

Is it ok or is it not worth the bother / risk?

cheers Simon

3.1.1 is ancient, current is 6.0.4, and I'd strongly recommend you upgrade to 6.0.4. I've not had any problems with it at all. If you're going to purchase music from the iTunes Music Store you'll also need to upgrade your version of Quicktime.

bear in mind that post v6, you won't be able to deauthorise and convert to mp3 your m4p files from itunes.

True, however, you can still burn the protected AAC (m4a) files to an audio cd (I have a cdrw for this purpose) then rip them back in as AAC (or you could do mp3 or Lossless if you wanted). OK, so it's not as seemless as using *hymn, but it works, unless something has happened between 6.0.2, which was the last time I tried it.

Simon,
If you have problems, shout on here, we'll help you. If possible, export all your playlists and backup your music. You should not need to, but if you had problems last time, it could save you hassle in the long run.
