Laptop To NEC VT770 Projector Problems
Hi all, maybe someone can help me with this.............. Im using a laptop to send images to an NEC VT770 projector via a 100ft long signal cable, it plugs into the monitor out port on the laptop, not sure what its called but it has 2 thumb screws either side which lock it into place, this is the same connection at the projector end. After about an hour or so the image on the projector starts to distort and I have to disconnect the laptop power supply which sorts it, but then the battery goes dead!! Any ideas folks? The image on the laptop itself, remains fine at all times.
Regards,
Simon

Hmmm, sounds like an odd one. I'm thinking possibly its something to do with your Power Schemes settings. Check in the Control Panel, Power Options. Put the settings all to 'Never' and see how you get on

Hi DJ. All my power scheme settings were set to never. I wonder would it be something to do with the length of cable, maybe the reistance is too high and this is causing the prob?

Hello Simon. Worth a look
100ft is certainly very long for a VGA cable, but it also seems odd that disconnecting your power supply seems to fix it.
Found this (perhaps a signal booster is required ?) :
When giving my presentation my computer is too far from my projector for the supplied cable. What’s the maximum cable length?
Using VGA cable (the cable with 15 pin "D"shaped plugs) the usual maximum figure is 15 metres with a good quality cable. This however can vary somewhat depending on the cable quality and external conditions so it’s as well to test before it becomes critical. If you experience problems then you may need a signal amplifier, commonly called boosters. DVI is a little more limited. Cables up to 5 metres should work but anything longer may require a very good quality cable or boosting.
