Default Sony PSP

Was thinking about getting a PSP but not sure what the difference is between the Value and Giga packs?

Also on ebay they claim the japanese versions have a higher res screen, is this true?

well ive got a jap version and cant tell any difference.

the value and giga packs come with different size memory cards. The value has a 32Mb card (i think) and the giga pack come with a 1Gb card.

If you want to go for a jap version then go for it as the games arent region locked and japan is under region2 for dvds so you can play british UMD movies on there as well

The only difference between the value and giga pack is the stuff included with the console, (mainly the larger capacity memory card). The console itself is exactly the same.

Utter rubbish. They all use the same resolution screens etc.

At the moment they aren't, but there are some rumblings going around that they might start. The technology is in the machine and enabled, so it's easy for them to implement in games software.

In theory, both the UK and Japan use the same region, so you should be ok. Don't import one from the USA though. You might be trouble with those in the future due to the different region codes.

Is there any point in importing a psp from Japan these days? You don't get the warranty, you have to pay import duty etc. Seems a lot of hassle when you can get a uk one.

There are also rumours of a revised PSP coming out later this year, or early next, which will have more builtin flash memory.
