Default Router settings

Hi guys

I am a complete idiot when it comes to computer stuff . I recently decided to buy myself a Thomson SpeedTouch 510 V4 Router/Modem. Don't really know why but I did anyways.

Got it up and running (as you can see ) but I have a few questions.

Can I still use my XP firewall whilst using this router/modem? (The wee red shield keeps reminding me to switch the firewall on because I am "at risk". but everytime I do that, I can't go on the internet?)

Same applies goes to my ZoneAlarm Pro. I had to switch the Zonealarm firewall off as it stopped me going on the internet too.

Have I set this router/modem up properly? Does anyone else have this router/modem? Any help is much apprecaited.

Thanks

Gordon Shek

There is no problem using a software firewall alongside a router. You should simply need to tell the software firewall the router's address, and allow it access.
