Best gaming laptop
Has anyone got an opinion on the best gaming laptop on the market at the moment? Or any info on advances in the market in the next few months?

Not if the games you want to play are not available on the consoles, there's so much more you can do with a laptop, and it means you can play the games anywhere, not just in your living room...
Gaming laptops are pricey, and a fast moving area of technology at the moment. It might be easier to recommend something if you were to give us a few more details about what you are looking for...

Was looking as either rock or alienware dual core 4800 or fx60.17", 2x100gig7200sataRaid0,256GTX, 2gigram,dvd rw,cd rw, sb audigy. Both circa 3k.
Is a lot to spend on a laptop but its effectively going to be a desktop replacement and only moved location maybe 6 times a year. Was going to get a x2 4800 last month but the fx60's out already. Just trying to figure out how long i should hold off for if there are any major changes by summer. (apart from the obvious price drops). There's also a few companies making machines like this and i'm after one thats put together like an aston martin 30 years ago and isnt going to have failures as soon as the warranty runs out!

I went with Alienware and although theyre expensive to buy, they are spot on. I purchased a desktop rather than laptop but cant fault it. It was £2k 2.5 years ago and a similar spec would still cost well over £1k. It still plays any new games without any problems.
Yes youre partly paying for the brand, but in my opinion its worth it.

My alienware desktop pc is extrememly good. Very happy with it.
I did have an Alienware laptop as well, but to be honest it wasn't anywhere near the same build quality or have the same reliability as the desktop. They may have improved, but I would personally look elsewhere next time...

Any thoughts on yohah? Believe intel are releasing a dual core 64bit proc. in the 2nd half of the year but cant remember the name of it. Seems like the fx60 if the best on the market at the moment.

I`ve got a 2 yr old alienware area51-m and I like it, the only disapointment is the fact they made a big issue about upgradeable graphics cards, and guess what. It`s not happened, so a bit miffed with that. But the machine itself i`m happy with. Not had any experience with the new dell laptops, but wasn`t impressed with them when I bought the Alienware. But the alienware customer service I found very good, Would dell ring you up after they had taken your money, when a component had gone down in price taking 200 quid off the price of your laptop, asking whether you wanted a cheque or to upgrade the spec.

SavRow are doing some good systems if your budget stretches that far, iirc they got an award in PC Pro last month for most uber lappy.
Cheers
