Default BT Yahoo Messenger - Make it stop!

Hi folks,

I'm running BT Yahoo Broadband at the moment, and I'm having problems with Yahoo Messenger. It seems to be somehow built in to my browser and starts every time I turn my pc on, and every time I open my browser. The only way to make it go away is to manually close it down, but if I open a new window it restarts. There doesn't seem to be any way in the settings to switch it off - it just won't go away!

I don't know if it's slowing my pc down at all, but it infuriates me that it's always there. Surely it should be my choice if I want it running? I use msn messenger so it just isn't needed.

Thanks,

Brian.

Hello

If you go to Control Panel and Add/Remove programs, there should be an option to remove Yahoo! Toolbar.

You can go into the settings of yahoo messenger and stop it from starting everytime windows starts. Can't remember off the top of my head how to do it but log into yahoo and then go to the menu and look for PROGRAM OPTIONS

Good luck

Try:

Start > Run > and enter: msconfig

The select the Start Up tab and find the entry for Yahoo Messenger, think my version was called “ypager” or something along those lines.

Just uncheck that and it shouldn't start again with windows, TBH not sure if this will stop it starting with IE but there is a chance...

In add / remove there should be a listing for either toolbar or messenger.

Otherwise, open yahoo messenger, click on messenger tab top left of window then preferences, which is actually ctrl+shift+P then it should open on general, and then untick box that says Automaticaly start Yahoo Messenger.

Not only is it annoying, it's actually the worst of the messengers, too.

For the best out there, try skype.com
