Default Speaker trouble

I've just bought a second hand computer and for some reason I'm only getting sound through one of the speakers. I've tried to re install the drivers and even swapped over the speakers incase they were faulty. The jack is in the correct port and I'm now stummped. Can any of you give any advice??

Many thanks

Steve.

4 options:

1).. The Jackport on the back of the PC is faulty.

2).. The lead from Speaker A to speak B is faulty.

3).. The Speaker in the one that isn't working is blown.

4).. Or the balance slider is set to either left or right preference. Have a look at the Sounds in control panel in windows.

Have you tried the speakers in a MP3 or CD Player to see if the problem still occurs?
