CPU at 100%

CPU at 100%
I don't know what's causing it but last weekend i upgraded my desktop from 128mb to 540mb by adding a 512mb ram into an empty slot (i have only 2 slots) and while i was doing the upgrade i decided to install Nortons antivirus 2004 which i had lying around.
Now when i go to a video site and click to open a video (so i've got 1 window open and a 2nd trying to) my CPU useage goes upto 100% and the download/ buffering is severely slow
Have i done something wrong? do i need to manually adjust some settings?
All non internet activity is fine?

" i decided to install Nortons antivirus 2004"
Theres your answer, the anti virus solution thats more intrusive than any virus !
De-Install it (if it will let you) and get the free AVG from Grisoft, perhaps Zone alarm and some free Spyware solution.

And yes I agree Norton products arn't good. You were lucky to get 2004 working at all. It seems that these cause more problems when you upgrade the Operating System causing no end of bother.
