Need to upgrade PC for gaming
Thanks to Dave for the link to find what my pc needs for upgrade
Want to upgrade for better game performance.
Current spec..
HP - Compaq Diablo motherboard
AMD Athlon 3000+
512mb DDR
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128mb
I can have max of 1 gig of RAM (the website told me), I have 2 slots, one currently has 512mb DDR.
I need an AGP graphics card.
Upgrades reccomended by crucial technology website..
RAM
512MB - 184 pin - DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR400 • 2.6V • 64Meg x 64
Graphics
Radeon X700 256mb AGP
or
Radeon X800 pro 256mb
I don't want to go too mad here (as I'm not exactly hardcore gamer and COD 2 allready works fine for me online) but where's the best (cheapest) place to get the stuff I need?
I presume there's other options for RAM and graphics cards but I'd imagine the Crucial Technologies website reccomends what it has in stock?

Crucial ram is very keenly priced, and service is second to non. Buy your ram from there.
gfx card wise i've just bought one of these : http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=100961
If your feeling alittle more flush theres always : http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=20505 from http://www.aria.co.uk/ - the XT850 series is the fastest AGP card available, the P.E. version from Aria been slightly faster than the one from e-buyer.

I googled the results in this country and found the Graphics card over £20 cheaper somewhere else (Novatech)
I'll check the links out, cheers.

hmm so at least £100 for the card and £50 for the mem
maybe look at this
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=474486
for £450 - sell yours and add the other money you would have spent on upgrading ??
